moving places, travelling to a city always includes a feeling of disorientation, of not-belonging and even loneliness at its beginning. fortunate are those who can move past this initial state and will eventually find their place in the new environment. maybe even themselves.

but sometimes we cannot move past this. We can maybe see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. but we cannot reach it. we can

my project is concerned with this state. it works – as photography does – through different layers of light and colour. unknown signs, fragments, artificiality, nature, the urban environment shining through – all aspects of the urban jungle we sometimes have to fight with and fight through.
